Now that you have a prototype brand, have your friends critique it through an online survey. There are many applications that you can use to do this, however the ones we will focus on in this activity are Google Docs. Alternate programs/applications can be found at http://cooltoolsforschools.wikispaces.com/. Note: If you decide to use alternate programs, you are responsible for finding tutorials to help you meet the criteria.
The first application you'll be using is a Google Form, which you can find through Google Spreadsheets. As a brief intro to Google Spreadsheets & Forms, check out the video above.
These pages will also serve as your help pages throughout this part of the project.
Building your Survey
Once you're comfortable making a Google Form, design questions that will help you improve your product and brand. When creating your questions, keep these tips in mind:
Decide what information you think will be most important. Do you want to know if your brand colours are attractive? Do you want to know whether your name is catchy? Do you want to know whether people like milk or dark chocolate? Do you want to know how your brand compares to other similar chocolate bars?
Keep your survey short: try to aim for 5-10 questions.
Use a casual, conversational style, making the questions easy to understand
Use multiple-choice questions whenever possible. . .
. . .but always have one open-ended question that allows people to give suggestions.
Avoid leading questions such as "How good is my brand: Great, Wicked, or Awesome Possum?" If you have a question that might be leading, try adding another question that is similar but reworded.
Try out the survey on a few people before you send it to everyone. Get their feedback on your questions, and make the revisions you think are necessary.
To provide visuals, you will also need to set up a Google Presentation, where you can insert images into different slides. At the very least, you will need to create one slide that contains your Brand Logo for your surveyors to critique.
For help with Google Presentation, check out the tutorials page http://edu.googleapps.com/tutorials-and-tips, go to "Getting started with Google Presentations," and then "Inserting images and videos."
Once you're done inserting your images, save the presentation, and then click on the Share tab to the right to find the link you can share with your friends. See the image below:
